They Really Are Trying To Kill Me...

SPARRING REPORT FROM BLOOR: THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL ME !!!

Some good sparring at Bloor on Thursday. Although turnout has not been the best.
I don't understand how last month the class was full, and this month, hardly anyone is showing up.
Anyway, the guys are making me work a lot harder, now.
Yeah, the ride is over. Time to get back to work.

This week's 12 rounds was a lot harder than last week's. I don't mind. Once I finally get back into competition, my opponents are not going to be easy on me. They are going to want to take me apart. Sparring is the place to learn, before that happens.

Chris was back, and I did three rounds against him. He basically wiped the canvas with my face. He was not fooling around. He had me against the ropes at one point, and he began hammering me, and I thought he was not going to stop.
He didn't, so I countered with a left hook to his ribcage, and he backed off.

It was not just Chris. Every round with all the guys, was really hard.
Someone even said after, "I have never seen you tired." Yeah, well, that's because you guys are normally not trying to kill me.

It looks like I am going to have to get used to this. As I said, the ride is over, and I'm out of tickets.

Snow Day ???

SNOW DAY, SLOW DAY

It started to snow yesterday, and there was a huge snowstorm forecast, so there was not a huge turnout for sparring class on Thursday.
A little side note here. Why does everyone get so upset about a bit of snow? It is February, we are supposed to get snow. Big deal.

Anyway, even though it was a rather sad sparring class, a few guys showed up, albeit a bit late. I was on time because I live a half-block away. No problem for me.

I did 16 rounds on Thursday with 4 different opponents.
I did 16 rounds on Tuesday as well.

I am beginning to notice a bit of improvement in myself as can now go more rounds without getting tired. I can remember when I was tired after just two rounds.
I have been spending a lot of time on the treadmill. Usually about an hour a day, four days a week. That helps a lot.

I have noticed a lot more "older" guys coming out to sparring. There are now at least three who come out regularly. That is good. Could I be having an influence?
I can not say it often enough, 'You are never too old to exercise'.

NEW WEB SITE AND BLOG

In an effort to clean up this blog, and bring it back to its original intent, I have created The Red Corner. This is where Toronto Boxing News will now be located. You can go there now by selecting the "Walk to the Red Corner" link above.
Also, to keep D-I-T-O Productions news off this blog entry, and to better promote the service, it now has its own web site and domain. Visit Digital Images Toronto: www.ditoprod.ca .

Crossing the Ring To the Red Corner

THE "BLUE CORNER" PENDING A REMODELING

As a result of reader feedback, there are going to be a few changes to the "Blue Corner Blog" during this month.

The first change is that I am removing the French translation. There are two reasons for this. One is that very few people cared nor even read the French part of the blog. Also, with the introduction of "The Red Corner", coming later in the month, it is a lot of work to type two blogs in two languages.
Therefore, going forward, this blog will be in English only.

Another big change is that I want to return "Comments From the Blue Corner" back to its roots of discussing my training and challenges as a 40+ boxer trying to return to the ring.
Lately, it has become cluttered with other stuff that is boxing related, but not related to my training.
However, these other posts have been very popular in helping to boot readers to the "Blue Corner", which is a good thing.
I will now be posting other boxing-related items in a new spin-off blog, "The Red Corner".

INTRODUCING "THE RED CORNER"

This new blog will feature news from the Toronto boxing scene. Featuring results, news, upcoming shows, interviews with the athletes and coaches, and reviews about Toronto boxing gyms.
The two blogs will be linked, so you can select the "Walk to..." link at the top right of each, to switch between blogs.

MOVING BOXING VIDEOS TO A NEW HOST SERVER

Due to reliability issues with YouTube, more specifically, their blatant disrespect for my work, boxing videos will now be hosted on Metacafe. Since Metacafe uses a user preview and authorization before the video is hosted on the server, "take-down"  policies do not exist since videos have to be approved before posting.
The only problem with Metacafe is that right now there is a 2 GB file limit, which cuts it close when uploading a High-Def video. Therefore, some matches may have to be edited to fit the file size limit.
Videos that are being removed by YouTube, have already been moved to the new server, and will be accessible through the Red Corner "Archives" tab.
