Update and Special Report

ENTRY 243A

UPDATE:
BRAINGLE STILL WITHOUT BRAINS

In an unusual Monday posting, I would like to update you on what has happened with Braingle.

On Sunday, I resubmitted one of the quizzes with all of the (un)necessary changes, and it was returned the same day! For different reasons!
Keeping in mind, the first time they had it for nine days!
How could they have possibly missed anything?

I really seriously think they are doing this to annoy me.

Therefore, I have decided to send a simple one-word quiz to the site administrator:

Yes. I am being a bit harsh, but I can't even be sarcastic.
This is so far beyond stupid that sarcasm won't even work.

You know what I say, "True or false? I care."

Hey! That's another one!

Congratulations to Braingle. You are currently in the lead for winning the 2015 Dunce Award.

This banner is going to look great!

SPECIAL REPORT
Toronto Transit Commission Bus On Time: Scientists Baffled

On Sunday, a T.T.C, bus on Route 7 Bathurst, left the Bathurst station on time.

This phenomena is very rare, which has scientists baffled.

More baffling is that on Monday, a 79 Scarlett Road bus was on time.

"To have two buses on two different routes on time within a 48-hour period is extremely unusual in this parts of the world", said one scientist, "To be honest, we are confused."

In both cases, Emergency Medical Services and the fire department were on standby, but were fortunately not required.

In light of this unusual situation, scientists have released a formula for calculating the chances of a bus being on time:

                                  PTy (a - 16 x 0.04)

                                 -------------------------
                                       b (FB + 31)

Where "a" is the probability of a fare increase, and "b" is the average IQ of all public transit employees, including Enforcement and Customer Service.

What scientists have found while applying this formula to all public transit systems in Ontario, is that "a" is inversely proportional to the solution. This means that the higher the fare, the less of a chance the buses will be on time.

The chances of a bus being on time, will of course always be a finite number, provided that the input data is within an average range.

When scientists tried this formula with MiWay (Mississauga), the results always turned out as 1:∞ (infinity), which means that a bus will never be on time in Mississauga

The reason for this is due to a problem with the formula, when specifically applied to Mississauga, "b"< 47.

This will result in the answer of infinity, since the input for employee IQ ("b") is out of average range.

When applied to the T.T.C. (Toronto), the answer was always at least 1:5000, but much higher on certain routes. The chance of being on time is much lower on some routes, as indicated below.

  • 7 Bathurst   1 : 43,610
  • 24 Victoria Park 1 : 19,122
  • 35 Jane    1  : 77,423
  • 41 Keele   1 : 12,006
  • 79 Scarlett Road   1 : 65,770

Scientists are working on removing the bugs from the formula, and are hoping it can be applied to more innovative uses, such as calculating the chances of the Conservative party being re-elected in October.

SPECIAL REPORT
'The Brick' Considering Moving To Sully's Or Cabbagetown

There is a possibility I may be leaving Stockyards for a boxing gym that is more "Masters' friendly".

Stockyards has lost a lot of the older guys, and I am beginning to get the feeling that the coaches there do not like coaching Masters.
It is likely I will be retiring from boxing within the next couple of years, but I will definitely be re-registering for at least 2016.
I am currently considering Sully's or Cabbagetown as my new host club.
