What? Could 'The Brick' Be Leaving Stockyards?

ENTRY 218

Next scheduled bout: February 21, opponent TBA

New Computer Finally Here

My new computer is here. It is not yet set up, but it will be by the weekend.

It came with a tablet, which is kind of cool. I have never had one of those.

My new computer. Similar to the one that died, but with more RAM and Windows 8.1.

This computer is costing me over $1400.
The 'cash' price is $865.

That is why you don't finance.

Free tablet.

The wife wants it, but I have bad news for her.

I'm Sill Searching, Again

Lately I have been noticing something 'odd' at Stockyards.

It has been happening since October, but I have really beginning to notice it this month.

I have been feeling neglected.
Richard rarely talks to me, much less coach me. Junmar has been about the same.

This past week, Richard has been bringing in a bunch of boxers from other gyms, and has been more interested in their performance than with mine.

Tuesday was the worst. The gym was so crowded with visiting boxers, that I was crammed into a corner and forgotten like a piece of garbage.
All I can do is shadow box in the corner, much less spar or anything else.

I have not had any sparring in over a week since my registration went in. Actually, it has been longer than that. A month.

Then, on Saturday, Richard takes our boxers to another gym, but won't let me go.

Richard won't let me travel with him to another gym, and I can't really even use my own gym being so crowded, what the hell is that deal?

Also, last Thursday, in addition to ignoring me, Richard kept on giving me a dirty look. He is pissed off at me, but would not tell me why.

Now, there is going to be another Stockyards card on February 21, and I think Richard is going to tell me that he can't find an opponent for me.
I'll bet that if I put an 'ad' for an opponent on this blog, I will get replies.
I have a feeling that Richard does not try very hard right now.
It just seems that he does not care about me any more.

I am not saying Richard is a bad coach. However, right now, he is acting very 'odd', and I don't know what is causing it.
I mean, if I am doing something, or not, I wish he would tell me what I am doing to piss him off.

I don't make suggestions to coaches any more, after the Kingsway Meltdown.
Therefore, if I don't hear anything from Richard about the February 21 card by right after the Brampton Cup, I am going to search for an opponent myself.

I think he is pissed that I changed my style from 'Technical' to 'Aggressive', and I don't think he likes that.
Well, it is obvious that Technical does not work for me, and since I am practically coaching myself right now, what else can I do?

It may be nothing.
No. It is something. Regardless of what is going on, Richard should not be ignoring his own athletes.

I was Stockyards' very first member. I joined before they were even open.
I should be their A-Number-One Superstar boxer.
Why did that not happen?

Interesting, isn't it?

I am going to give it until the end of February, and if I do not see any changes, I may have to make a decision about Stockyards Boxing.

Although, I really don't want to leave Stockyards, I need to get a "W". I can't keep losing. I am going to get frustrated, and quit, and then everything myself and Richard and Junmar have done will go to waste.
Also, I have already renewed my registration with Boxing Ontario through Stockyards, and it is a huge pain in the butt to change it.
However, if that is what needs to be done...

I am going to start looking soon, so that if I need to make a sudden jump to another gym, I will be ready.

Sparring and Creepypastas

ENTRY 217

Next scheduled bout: February 21, opponent TBA

Back To Sparring

With my registration almost complete, sparring will be starting up again very soon. I have to start preparing for Laidman.
Well, after I convince Richard that it is time to raise the bar, and that is the hardest part. Anyone who is, or has even been an athlete, knows how difficult it is to get the coach to think your way.

Although, I have an idea up my sleeve that will hopefully get Richard to see things my way.

Look out for a whole new, better, tougher "Brick". Coming soon to a boxing gym near you! Rated TMF (Tough Mo-Fo).

In ~ Security

As you all may (should) know, I do night-shift security at two different locations in Toronto. A synagogue near Bathurst and Eglinton, and a shopping centre near Don Mills and York Mills.
Anyway, as you can imagine, there are many interesting things that can happen. I would like to post them here, but it would require a whole separate blog.
One recent "event" does stick in my mind, and is actually kind of funny, looking back.
A couple of weeks ago, while at the synagogue , I believe it was the Sunday (Monday morning), at about 2 AM, I began to feel really sick. I mean seriously ill. The symptoms came upon me so quickly, I mean within 10 minutes.
It started with a slight tingle in the stomach. It than quickly became a severe cramp, with nausea. Then I became dizzy, and the odd part, I began to sweat. I mean heavy sweat, just pouring off me. Yet, I felt cold.
All this happened within 10 minutes.
I then felt like I really needed to ralph.
Now, the closest washroom for security to use, is all the way at the other end of the building, and there was no way I was going to make it. However, there is a small washroom for the cleaning staff in the basement, directly below the security office.
I figured I should use that washroom, so I walked, quickly, down the stairs to the small washroom.
Fine. Except that I had forgotten that I had the motion sensors activated down there.
So, here I am 'running' down the stairs, and half-way down I hear "Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...!!" coming from the security room.
Shit. No time to worry about it now.
If the alarm is active for more than a minute, a signal is sent to a remote monitoring station, and my boss.
Of course it was more than a minute, and how embarrassing was it to have to explain that?

Another odd thing, is that this illness only lasted for about two hours. Then, as just a quickly as they came, the symptoms went away.
My doctor thinks it was food poisoning, but I think it was something else.

Speaking of work, I was once again called into the office to be praised by management. Apparently, despite the small incident with the alarm, my supervisor has been report very good things about me to company managers.

That is twice now, I have been praised by management -in person.
Wow. I have only been working there for two months.

My Top - 5 Favorite Creepypastas

Creepypasas don't really scare me, because they are only stories, and stories can't hurt you. Real-life events are creepier.
However, I like Creepypastas if they are well-written, and are interesting.

So, now, here are my Top-5 Creepypastas, with links:

5; Clown Statue Based on the urban legend.
4; Smiling Man A late night walk turns terrifying for a young man.
3; Five Nights At Freddy's Based on the game.
2; Four Nights At Freddy's Based on the game.
1; He Dies At the End A man receives odd messages on his computer at night.

Honorable mentions:

The Hole In the Wall
The Window
Subway Stare

Abandoned By Disney
Apartment 1155

New Computer On the Way

Okay, so as in conjunction with the rest of my life, my IT guy found a more serious problem with my computer. Something had burned out on the mainboard. Maybe due to the bad connection, but, who knows?
Anyway, I had a few options, none of which I could afford on a security guard's wages.
My only option was to finance new one from MDG.
It pisses me off because I just became debt-free in August. Now I am having to pay $50 a moth for a new computer.
My only hope is that I can pay a bit more on it, to get I paid faster.

Shit.
Welcome to my crappy life.

Stockyards' Next Card Announced and Computer Go Boom!

ENTRY 216

Next scheduled bout: February 21, opponent TBA

COMPUTER EXPLOSION

Yes, this entry is late, but I had an unfortunate thing happen last week:

To make a long story short. It turned out to be a loose connection on the mainboard, for which the IT guy did not bill me.
I am using the wife's laptop right now, because mine still at the shop in Hamilton.
Yes, my IT guy is in Hamilton.
This laptop is as slow as molasses, and I miss my software, and the ability to download, and my music.
I miss my computer. I want my computer. I need my computer.

FAIR INSPECTORS?

Here is something interesting. On the way home from work yesterday, two fare inspectors boarded the subway.
Did you know the TTC had fare inspectors?
Does the TTC really need fare inspectors?

Yeah. It would be a real shame if somebody tried to board without paying.
I mean, the technology the TTC uses to prevent the buses from being on time must be very expensive. Somebody has to pay for it.
It needs to be perfected. That is why sometimes a bus is on time.
Mississauga, on the other hand, uses the same system, and has it working perfectly. Just like they have perfected stupidity.

See. Mississauga is good for something other than preventing Brampton from sliding into the lake.

STOCKYARDS' NEXT CARD ANNOUNCED

The next big tournament is the Brampton Cup on February 6, 7, 8. I don't qualify for this, as there is no Master's Division. This is a Novice Division tournament only.

However, Stockyards Boxing will be hosting their next local card on February 21, of which I am hoping to be in.
I am still trying to get Mark Laidman as an opponent.

Also, someone else, a good friend of mine, and a person well-known to the Toronto boxing community, will also be tossing himself into the ring soon.
I am not saying whom right now, but he does want to have an exhibition match with me once he is ready.

More on that in a future post.

Reflections: 2014, And The Winner Of The 2014 Dunce Award!

ENTRY 215

MONDAY: Ten rounds total, five rounds focus on offense, five rounds focus on defense, with focus on cardio for all rounds.

TUESDAY: Four rounds total. Focus on defense and footwork (narrowing stance)

I have been feeling that my stance is too wide, so I have been practicing while shadow boxing, and now by sparring, by keeping my feet closer together. I find that I have a lot better balance.
On Tuesday, I sparred the two Marks, little Mark, and well, "bigger" Mark.
Little guys are hard to spar, because they are so fast. At one point, for some reason, I dropped my guard, and Mark nailed me. Then he said, "Keep your hands up."
Thanks.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

REFLECTIONS: 2014

This past year has been big for me. It marked my first time back in the ring for over 15 years.
A lot of that credit goes to Coach Richard and Junmar, who took the time to teach me properly, and take me seriously. Unlike so many previous coaches.
I never asked to be the next Mike Tyson or Manny Pacquiao, I just wanted to be a *a boxer*, and a big thank you goes out to Richard and Junmar to help make that happen.
Now that it is a new year, I have renewed my boxing registration, and will therefore be looking towards some new challenges.
I want to raise the bar. Look for more challenging opponents. Local fighters are okay, but it is time to move on.
Give me some from other cities. It is just a matter of convincing Richard of that.
However, with a some work and dedication, it can be done.

I am just waiting for my registration to be processed, so I can continue to spar and compete.
Until then, I may as well rant! .........

MY FINAL VISIT TO JANE FINCH MALL

Alright, so I went to Jane Finch Mall the other day. Actually, twice. Once just before Christmas, and once just a couple of days ago.
You know that place is a dump?

At one location, the ceiling was caving in.
Yeah. You might want to get someone to look at that.

Also, there is this one store called, 'Digital Foto and Electronics'.
Every time I walked by that store front, there was this guy in there giving me the evil-eye.
I'm serious. Creepy, man!

Yeah, guy, learn how to spell first.
Its P-H-O-T-O, not F-O-T-O, as in 'F-U'.

There is a huge housewares store in there as well, not so creepy, but rather expensive, considering that almost everything they sell, you can get at Dollarama for at least 25% less.
There also used to be a snack bar in there called Dinky's.
It looks like it has been closed for a while, and I understand why.
Would you eat food from a place called Dinky's?

Finally, as if that isn't enough to scare one away, I was in there a couple days before Christmas, so Santa Claus was there.
He was being escorted by two security guards.
Seriously. I am not making it up.
I mean, if Sana Claus needs to be escorted by security, that can not in any way be a good sign!

Here is an ad for Jane Finch Mall, coincidentally (or maybe not so), in a bus shelter across the street from the mall:

They don't need to advertise. Stop being creepy and fix up the place, and they will get more people in there.
Do they think I will be going back?

What is really odd about all this is that Yorkgate Mall is right across the street, and I have never had any problems there. That mall is also a lot cleaner and in better condition...and not so creepy.

...so why such a big difference? It is like Night and Day.
Yorkgate Mall is Day and Jane Finch Mall is Night.

The things that make you go hmmmmmm......

WHICH IS SMARTER, A CHEESE SANDWICH OR A BUS DRIVER?

Okay, so here we go on the bus drivers again.

Last Sunday, while coming home from work, I experienced another snotty bus driver.
I, and a few other people were waiting for the Number 35 7:20 AM departure from Jane subway station, and we were waiting within the station.
Subway service does not start until 9 AM on Sundays and holidays, so the stations are locked at that time, but you can still access the bus stops, because they are outside and there is a shelter and benches which the street stop does not have.
Anyway, this bitchy bus driver arrived at the bus bay, opened the door and said in a snotty voice, "You have to wait on Jane Street. Until the station opens, this stop is not in use."
Really?...and exactly where does it say that, lady?

Here is a screen capture of the Route 35 schedule for Sunday mornings.
Now, does it not say "Jane Station"? Not "Jane Street"?
Right.
That means the bus will stop to pick up passengers within the confines of the terminal.
Right?

So, here is another bus driver who is full of shit.
Besides, even if she was right, what the hell difference does it make to her?
Geez, lady, I'm sorry I ruined your day.
I wish bus drivers would put that much passion into being on time!

That is not to mention, the snooty bitch near the beginning of December, who decided she wanted to argue with me.
Then at the end said, "You should be a bus driver for a day".
First of all, that doesn't help, and while we are on the topic, yes, I would like to be a bus driver for a day, and I would do a much better job, too!
Also, since when do we argue with customers?

I use the service, and as a result, TTC employees have jobs. That is the extent of my charitable contribution to the TTC. Other than that, I don't have to do squat for anyone at the TTC.
When the TTC staff start to care about me, then I will see what I can do about increasing the donation.
Until then, they are lucky to have freaking jobs. If I had my way, every single bus driver would be freaking fired.

MORE REASONS WHY GOOGLE SUCKS

Okay, so I went to check my gmail for 'thebrickboxer', and I see this:

How can this be disabled due to a precious Terms of Service violation?
I checked it once a week for incoming mail. I never sent mail from it.

Let me add to that.
Why Google disables accounts?
Umm...let me think.

  • To be a pain in the ass?
  • They are morons?
  • They are the same people who screwed up my You Tube account by allowing someone else to steal my work, and not do anything about it?
  • The are idiots?
  • They own 75% of the internet, and are bullies?
  • They are stupid?

Hmmm.....

Every service I have ever used from Google has been a problem at one time or another, except this one.
I have never had any problems with Blogspot...yet.

Anyway, with gmail disabled, it means that no one can email me any more.
Going forward you must use the messaging system built into Blogspot to contact me.
I am not going to deal with the idiots at Google any more because they are...idiots.

SUPIDITY

Do you also find that there are way too many stupid people?
You know, being stupid should be a criminal offence. However, instead of going to jail, you have to live in Mississauga, and work for Mississauga Transit.

Oh, wait. Mississauga is already the Stupid capital.
Well, then it won't make any difference, will it?

Google should move their Canadian office to Mississauga. They'd fit right in.
