Special Edition: Reader Input Requested

ENTRY 240A

Next scheduled bout: July 11 @ George Bell Arena, Opponent TBA
Next scheduled bout: August 1 @ Brant Curling Club, Opponent TBA

Special Edition: Your Input

I know it is rare for me to publish on a Tuesday, and it is even more rare for me to ask for advice from my readers, but I have a dilemma.

Here is the thing:
I spend a lot of time training at the boxing gym Stockyards.
Every time a card becomes available, I end up not being able to get an opponent.
However, I see guys who rarely show up at the gym, getting all kinds of bouts, even other Masters
I don't want to mention names, but one guy who shows up once a week, or fewer, is getting a bout in August. This is the second time this has happend. This particular boxer always loses.
I wonder why?

I don't want to sound like I am just being a complainer. I am trying to make a point.

Why do I spend so much time at Stockyards?
I mean, in my opinion, guys who train the hardest, should be the first in line to compete.

Richard keeps telling me that he is looking for opponents for me, but it always seems to fall through.

Richard also feels that I am "sparring enough". That actually means "too much".
I personally feel that I don't spar enough.
I remember sparring up to 20 rounds a week, and he has cut it back to about 10 or less.

I have not yet told Richard how I feel, because I really don't know what to do at this point.

Can you see how this is frustrating?

Therefore, I am putting this option out to you.

Do you, my loyal readers, and maybe some newer readers, feel that I should cut back on training at Stockyards, and do more elsewhere, or just keep up what I am currenlty doing?

It has nothing to do with how nice a person is, or how hard the coach is trying.
It just seems that I am training very hard for nothing.

I have put boxing ahead of my wife, and even work.
Since seeing my bouts on the internet, my workplace is impressed with what I can do in the ring, and has said that they would give me time off to compete.
I book time off when a card is coming up, but I have not been on the card.

I realize I can't be on every card, but I have not had one bout all year, and the year is half over.

Please use the poll on the top-right of this blog to vote.

Thanks.

Possible Opponent In Brantford

The Brantford Blackeye Boxing Club are looking for Masters for their upcoming card on August 1.
Richard has submitted my name.

I may also get a last-minute opponent for the Stockyards' card on July 11.
If I am not on the card in July, I will be covering all the bouts for  ! COMBAT ~ TV.

No Boxing Gym On Monday Or Tuesday, But Trained On Friday

I was called into work at the last minute on Monday and Tuesday afternoon shift, to cover special events. so I could not make it into Stockyards.
However, I went in on Friday, and got some technical pointers from Coach Richard, and did three rounds of sparring with Nick.
I did cardio and weight training at Bloor Fitness on other days.

Will It Blend?

I am currently learning how to use Blender.
Not the appliance, the software.

You know what that means?
Every video I produce over the next six months with have at least five minutes of completely unnecessary 3D animation.

My goal is to create a weekly animated production.
It will take a while. You don't learn 3D animation in a few days, but I will keep all of you updated on my progress.

Current progress:

Figured out how to RUN Blender !

Baby steps.

Almost An Opponent

Richard received a response about an opponent for me for the Atlas show on Saturday. However, he did not agree to it since the guy has more ring experience that I.
Eight bouts as opposed to my three.
Richard said to me, "I know you can take care of yourself in the ring, but that is a lot of experience to give away..."

That is why I was not in the Atlas show.

However, there is still a chance to be in the next Stockyards' show on July 11.

I will keep working very hard.
It is getting frustrating, though, I spend so much time at the gym, and guys who spend fewer hours at the gym, are getting more ring time.
I mean, how am I supposed to get ring experience?

That is one of the reasons I do so much sparing. Although, it does not really count as ring experience, it keeps me in practice.

No Gym On Wednesday, But Extra Training On Thursday

I was called into work at the last minute on Wednesday afternoon shift, to cover a special event. so I could not make it into Stockyards.
However, on Thursday I wanted to get in early to make up for not going the previous day, but of course, the bus was late.
Richard was not in on Thursday, but I got to get some attention from Will.
Will is our guest coach from Bramalea Boxing Club.
He took me into the ring and had me practice, "My deadly overhand right".
I also got to do a few rounds of sparring with both Nick and Junior,

Made the Weight

Near the time I started at Stockyards, I had set a weight-loss goal.
At that time, my goal was to get down to 185 lbs.
I succeeded that goal, so I set another.
My next goal was 178.
On Thursday, my weigh-in at the gym was 178 lbs.

I guess this means I should set another goal, or just coast?
I don't want to turn into nothing. That is not good, either.
Right now, I am at proper weight for my height and build.

I'm thinking of setting a goal of 175. Just to give me a target.

Ticked Off At the TTC...As Usual

They should call it the CTC, Crappy Transit Commission.

Here is a visual example of why I get so ticked off at the TTC.
Keep in mind that a bus pass in Toronto costs almost $150.

This photo was taked at the Jane Subway Station bus platform, early Saturday afternoon:

As you can see, the platform is crowded, and there are four buses all waiting at the opposite end of the platform. They are all the same route, and are obviously late.

Here is an idea: Move your asses, and pick up the passengers. Why the fuck are you waiting over there?
It was another five minutes before the first bus driver decided to get his fat ass in gear.

$150 for a bus pass, people.....150 freaking dollars!!!!!!!

Can you understand why I complain?
Wow.
If bus drivers were any lazier, they would be comatose.

TWO MORE CHANCES TO WIN (MAYBE)

Coming up next week is a card hosted by Atlas Boxing, and there is also Stockyards' next card in July.
Richard has submitted my name for the Atlas card, and is also looking for an opponent for me for July.
I want to get in at least three for the year. I have not had any, yet,
I know there are a lot of Mater's boxers in the Toronto area, but they won't compete.
At least give it a try.

LIVING IN A CONDOM CONDO

Well, here I am, last week working at the condom.
No, that is not a mistake. I call it a condom, because of the type of people who live in it.

Here is a huge surprise. There was a complaint last week from one of the residents at the condom.
I got the complaint from head office.
Apparently, a maintenance worker entered the unit on the 14th floor, and left the door unlocked after leaving.
Apparently, security fogot to check the door.
Oh. shit. Really?
Here is the thing, you live on the fucking 14th floor.
Nothing is going to fucking happen in the one hour your precious door was not locked.

New site next week. I hope.
I don't know how much longer I am going to have to deal with these condo dicks.

TELEVISION OOPSIES

With not much more to write this week, here are some more interesting photos from the Internet.
These are from a group called "Overheard In the Control Room".

I have been working in broadcasting for a long time, and rarely have I seen mistakes like these.
Interesting to note, most of these are from Fox.
Surprised?
