MAYbe
I had a pretty good sparring session on Monday, but for some reason sparring was cancelled on Wednesday.
Although, I did some drills with Will in the ring. I got some good practice, and a good workout as well.
Richard told me that he will be hosting a boxing show in late spring, in which the entire Stockyards team will be represented.
Yes...that includes myself.
Likely this will be in late May, but has not been confirmed.
Richard suggested that he would like me to drop to a lower weight class.
He wants me to drop to 184. That is four pounds, in six weeks.
He suggested a new diet:
Cut back on rice or pasta.
No more white bread, more whole grains.
More salads.
Cut back on sugars.
Well, I have already cut back on sugars.
I don't add sugar to anything.
For coffee, I use stevia.
This is a fairly new product to Canada, as it has just been approved by Heath Canada about six months ago.
It is very expensive, but a healthier alternative to other sweeteners.
The only place I know where you can get it is Target. It is $6 for 100 packets, and I find that you need three of them in a medium coffee.
It is a sugar bi-product that is not only zero-calorie, but it does not boost blood-glucose levels, so it is safe for diabetics or those who don't want to become one.
I am going to take on this new diet challenge, with the hope that Rick can find me an opponent.
It is going to be hard, but it could be a decent pay-off, and a great start to my summer.
The Jizz Hour
I call him the "Creepy Guy".
This is an "Infomercial" that is broadcast on CHCH-TV on Saturday and Sunday nights, after midnight. It is called "The Quiz Hour", although the Saturday version is actually two hours.
I don't play, but it is fun to watch.
What goes here ???? |
Hmmmmmmmm.... |
?????? ! |
See what I mean? This was just within one show.
They call this a game, but in fact, it is a business. Some people call it a "scam", but it isn't. It runs like a casino. The odds are in their favor.
However, there is a strategy.
For those who have not seen it, our creepy host will have these games, such as find the hidden face in the photo, or give a four-letter word, but don't repeat the letters in each column.
You call in, and it costs a dollar to call, and if you have the correct answer, you win the cash shown on the screen.
However, there is a catch.
Calling in does not guarantee a connection into the studio. As a matter-of-fact, it is highly unlikely.
You have to connect to an "active" studio line.
There are 20 lines, but only certain ones will get you to the host, so you can try your answer.
For example, they will say, "Hit luck line number three."
Sometimes it is lines 1,3,5,9,12, or something like that. The idea is to trick people into calling, thinking that they have a better chance of getting through.
However, that is a bit misleading. Just because they have more studio lines available, does not mean you have a better chance. As a matter-of-fact, you may have less of a chance.
Here is why: What they use is something called a Randomizer. It can be set anywhere from 0% to 100%. When set at 100%, everyone who calls will "hit" a studio line, even if there is only one open. At 0%, nobody will get a studio line, even though all lines are all "open".
What they do, is they will sometimes have bonus rounds, when they up the prize, but lower the chances of someone getting through, by setting the Randomizer lower.
Wow! $4800! Better call now! |
You can tell by watching the show, this is what they do. How else do you explain no calls coming in when there is a high price amount, with a fairly simple question? While more calls get through when the prize is lower, or the question is more difficult, and a higher chance of a wrong answer.
The secret to this game is simple.
If you want to play, call when the prize is small. Never call during a bonus round.
Also, they time the show so that there "just happens" to be a winner at one minute before the end of the show. This is another thing to keep in mind.
You know there is no way they are going to give away more than $1000. Actually, I think the largest prize was $800.
This is a very low-budget production. They are buying inexpensive air-time, and have a very small crew. Obviously one camera operator, probably one person directing and switching, and one audio person.
I think this is produced at the Channel Zero studio at Keele and Dunds, not at the CHCH-TV studio.
To conclude, this is not a scam, just very clever marketing.
However, the smart player can win.
Good luck.
