HOW LOW CAN YOUR (IQ) GO?
Does anyone remember the book "Last man On Earth"?
There was a film made of it in the '70s called "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston, and then a really bad remake a few years ago called "I Am Legend" with Will Smith.
Well, sometimes I feel that I am the "Last Intelligent Man On Earth".
Stupidity is all around us. Some of us notice it better than others, while a few do notice it, but ignore it.
I, however, notice it a lot, and it really annoys me.
My friends at Rogers. Oh, yes Rogers. Are they not just the best?
Yesterday, I received an email from an email address called "abuse@rogers.com". I would like to share it with you:

Okay.
First of all, I can't believe that Warner would go as far as to hire someone to look for "illegal" downloads. I can understand why this is important to them, but this is a bit overboard, don't you think?
Also note, the improper spelling of "Inquiry", twice, by a supposedly "professional".
Then again he is an "enforcement officer", which is kind of the same as a "police officer".
Isn't Warner Bros. the same cry-baby company that complained a few years ago about the "lenient" copyright laws in Canada? Then they said that Canada was not going to be offered any film premiers until that laws were tighter?
Yeah. I'm sure we can get by. I don't see anyone dying over it.
The entertainment industry is full of corrupt and greedy people. One day, there is going to be a huge earthquake, and the entire city of Los Angeles is going to fall into the ocean.
It is not a matter of "if", but "when".
This Michael guy must be a blast at parties:
"So, what do you do?"
"I search the Internet for illegal downloads on behalf of an entertainment company."
Party over.
Anyway. There are eight things wrong with this entire situation:
Note that it says, "Do not reply to this email".
Of course not. If you were in charge of sending people stupid, bullshit, pointless emails about crap nobody cares about, would you want people to reply?
Idiots.
I so much want to leave Rogers, but the wife, you know. She insists on staying with them.
Heaven forbid we may get a better deal from someone else.
I am not finished talking about Stupid.
That stupid Metro store at Stockyards.
I don't like that location. I prefer the one at Spadina and Bloor, but that one is difficult to get to. I have to take a subway there. The one at Stockyards is on the way home from the boxing gym.
First of all, I'd like to know who the moron is who drops skids of product into the middle of the aisles. It is a safety issue. Stores have shelves for a reason.
It is like an obstacle course in there.

Anyway. There are eight things wrong with this entire situation:
- There is no way anyone can access my system from outside, because the ports are closed. I only open ports to upload programming - my programming- to my remote servers.
- I operate a production and broadcasting service. How would it look for me to do something like this?
- It says the protocol used was BitTorrent. I have no idea what that is. Well, I do, but I don't use it. I use FTP.
- File sharing is not an illegal activity in Canada, so why does Rogers care?
- Why does Rogers care anyway?
- I have programming made by other producers on my server, that I have permission to use, but as mentioned before, nobody accept myself has access to it.
- Rogers charges for bandwidth usage after a certain amount is used, so what would be the point of this?
- What the hell do they want me to do about it?
Here we have another idiot working at Rogers who tells me that this is an "automated" email, and that it is their duty to inform people of such complaints.
Just like it is their duty to provide faulty equipment, crappy customer service, and rate hikes very year. All of which they are damn good at.
Also, the email can't be automated, because how does the system know about the complaint?
Of course not. If you were in charge of sending people stupid, bullshit, pointless emails about crap nobody cares about, would you want people to reply?

It is like an obstacle course in there.
It does not help when you have idiot shoppers who leave their shopping carts in the aisle as well, as they make the major life-changing decision of what brand of margarine to buy.
Also, the cashiers in there have the attention span of a kitten with ADD.
They make so many mistakes. I have so many times had to correct them on not removing the "$1.00 OFF" tags from products. All they have to do is remove the tag and scan it. They don't.
I purposely put the tags facing forward, so the cashier can see it. She still does not see it.
Finally:
How about people who bring baby carriages on the bus when it is busy?
All public transit systems in Ontario have policies about this. The policy is: No.
Who says to themselves, 'It is rush hour, so the bus is busy. This would be a great time to bring my huge-ass baby carriage onto the bus.'
Future Rogers employees.
The thing is too, that the damn drivers are allowing it!
There were two of them on the 71 Runnymede bus yesterday at 5:30PM.
It also happens a lot on the Mississauga number 11 bus. That bus is always busy, and of course Mississauga Transit is too cheap to put on more buses. They would rather operate crowded buses that are unsafe.
Okay, so here is this week's idiots list:
RICK SOUCÉ: THE TEST
For some reason, there was no sparring class on Wednesday.
Junmar said, "Nobody showed up".
There were three of us there, and you only need two for sparring.
So, i don't know what happened there.
There was sparring on Monday with Rick.
He told me that he was testing me. He wanted me to do four rounds of hard sparring without getting tired.
I did.
I was actually quite happy with Monday's sparring. It was certainly better than the previous week.
Rick has also started watching me spar. For a while he wasn't really paying attention, but now he is.
I also think he is seriously looking for an opponent. On Monday he asked me to confirm my weight and age.
This could be leading up to something...soon.
Tune in next week...same Blue time...same Blue corner.
