Sparring the Older Guys: Not As Easy As You May Think
Here is a question for you: Who hits harder? A 20 year-old, or a 50 year-old?
The answer may surprise you.
Older guys hit much harder than the young guys.
Not to say that the young guys hit like little girls, but compared to a 40 or 50 year-old, they don't hit nearly as hard.
I can tell even from sparring.
It is understandable, a 20 year-old is still trying to find his place in life. Trying different things, and so may not take boxing so seriously yet.
However, if a guy is 50, and still boxing, you can be sure that he is very serious about it.
Kladnik Sparring Session Times Two
Speaking of older guys and sparring, I sparred Oliver's dad once last week, and once again this week.
Last week, he nailed me in the nose, and made me bleed.
This week, I nailed him good to the body, and he crouched back with his arms out front. Yeah, I think I hurt him that time.
At first I felt bad about it.
Yeah, sometimes I think I am too nice to be a boxer.
Then I remembered about the bleeding nose he gave me last week, and, well, I don't feel so bad any more.

Power of the Blog 3: Return To Jane-Finch Mall
Sometimes, I like to return to a place I complain about after a couple of months to see if there have been any changes.
I had to stop at the office on Friday to get them to fill out some forms for my security guard licence renewal. That is a pain in the butt, too, but I wont get into that right now.
Anyway, on the way home I stopped at my favorite shopping center. I really didn't need anything there, but I wanted to see if anything has changed since December.
Well, they had repaired the ceiling. That is a very good thing. Although, I am not sure how long it was in that condition.
I then walked over to my buddy at the Digital Foto and Electronics, and to my surprise (or not), he glanced up at me, then turned away.
I walked to the other side of the mall, and came back, and he did the same thing again.
Okay, so he got the message, somehow.
However, there is still something that urks me about this whole thing.
I should not have had to write about it to begin with.
Everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, how you dress, how you walk, whatever the hell, you have the right to occupy a common area, such as a mall, without harassment.
Although, it looks like the problem has been corrected, the damage has been done, and is irreversible.
I will never be a customer in his store, nor will I ever recommend it.
If you own a business, you need to respect everyone. Even if someone is not making a purchase at that time, he may return to buy something in the future, or tall someone else, "Hey, blah blah blah store in blah blah mall has what you are looking for."
As for this particular store, that will never happen.
I don't understand how you can own a business, and turn away potential customers. What is the point of having a business?
All business should be welcoming to all. Marketing to demographics does not work any more. Especially, with so many other ways to shop now.
I mention this, because 'music' is another pet-peeve of mine.
The music you play in your store may drive away clients. Music should be neutral. You don't play, for example, hip-hop.
One of many reasons I won't step foot into a Future Shop, is because in the past (and maybe still do), they played really crappy music. I think they had a "Crap Music" file somewhere that they played in their stores. I mean, it was awful music. Terrible.
You play what is acceptable for your customers, not what you like.
The business is not there for the staff, it exists for customers.
These all tie into the same thing, poor customer service.
Look at all of the things I have been ranting about.
Mississauga.
They don`t care that people have things to do, and have to go to work.
All they care about is their staff.
Here is breaking news: I don`t give a crap about the staff.
Staff don't get respect just because you happen to have a job.
You have a job. Very good.
You get respected when you do your job properly, and respect your employer and its clients.
Look at the TTC, with the buses so frequently late.
The buses are late because they leave the terminal late. They leave the terminal late, because the driver don`t want to drive their buses. They would rather stand around and talk.
Attitude.
'I don`t care if I was supposed to leave five minutes ago, I want to talk to my buddies.'
They are doing what they want, instead of why they should be doing, which is driving the buses.
Again, poor customer service.
...and what happened at Time Hortons last week?...Staff not paying attention to the customer (me) = poor customer service.
I have not returned to that location since, and it will be a long time before I do.
Platinum Liquidations.
I am bringing them up again, because every time I go there they mention about this blog, and how much of an asshole I was for mentioning them in it.
Well, that in itself is poor customer service. If they had provided me with decent service to begin with, they would not have been mentioned in this blog in a negative way.
Really, would it kill them to keep a couple of small items for me, until I have a chance to pick them up? No, of course it wouldn't.
They have a stupid rule that is of no benefit to the customer.
So, they get honorable mention here, again, and I am getting tired of hearing about it.
Then there is Rogers with their never ending crap.
I'm not sure if I mentioned the rat race they sent me on last month to replace yet another defective modem.
...and it just keeps going and going like an Energizer battery...
I bring this all up again, since I saw an article yesterday, from Workopolis, and it was saying how customer service is a growing industry.
I find that very hard to believe, since there is so little of it.

It has nothing to do with me 'not liking' bus drivers.
When they start respecting me, and stop with the attitude, I will respect them.
