ENTRY 305
STATESIDE AND QUEBÉC MAY HAVE THE ANSWER
There may be an answer to my dilemma of not being able to get into any tournaments in Ontario.
The answer was right there all the time, but I failed to recognize it.
Enter tournaments outside of the province.
There is a tournament specifically for Masters held every year in the U.S.
It is actually going on right now, so it is obviously too late to register. However, I am considering it for next year.
This year it is being held in Kansas City, MO.
It is apparently held in a different place each year.
This year there are 30 boxers (15 bouts) scheduled.
That is a lot for a Masters tournament.
I did a bit of research, and found out that USA Boxing accepts Boxing Ontario passports, so an Ontario boxer does not have to be registered with USA Boxing to compete in the United States.
You do however, need to file a for a travel permit.
There are two of them. One for bordering states, for which you apply through Boxing Ontario. The other is for competing in a non-bordering state. That one you have to file though CABA.
Another option is to see what tournaments and shows are in Quebéc this summer.
There are a few going on in Montréal and other areas of the province..
I would like to see about entering those.
It is a bit easier to compete in Quebéc, because a travel permit is not required since I would still be covered under CABA.
There is actually a lot going on through Boxe Quebéc, especially in May.
I am seriously going to do some more research on this, as this will be a consideration for the spring and summer.
I will also discuss this a bit with Coach Richard and Will as well.
After all, who says a boxer from Ontario can not compete elsewhere?
DING!
The answer has been there all along.
