Out of the Frying Pan and Into...Another
Okay, so as of last report, my security company removed me from Liberty Plaza over that stupid broken window situation.
Yesterday, they assigned me a new location. Metro Place.
Metro Place is owned by...Liberty Investments. Yes, the same company that owns Liberty Plaza.
So, in other words, the exact same thing is going to happen again???
(Whisper mode) Resumé update....resumé update...resumé update...Shhhhh!
Actually, nobody at my workplace reads this.
I know, because nobody there knows that I am a boxer.
I told one of the managers last week, and he was very surprised.
He told me that he really likes boxing.
So, that is how I know that I am safe knowing that the managers don`t read this column. Besides, even if they do, I damn well have the right to my opinion.
So...bite me.
Also, you might notice that I never mention the name of the company that I currenty work for.
Boxing Product Review: Boxing Simulator
I do this sometimes, when I find an interesting boxing-related product.
This week, I finally found a decent boxing simulator for Windows. Called "Real Boxing".
Some may ask, "Why do you need a boxing simulator, if you box for real?"
That is a good question, with a good answer: It is because the simulaor lets me win once in a while.
This game is a lot of fun with really good graphics.
It really is very close to real boxing.
You can go to the gym and train, and get better. As with in "carrer" mode, or tournament mode, you can not chose your opponents, who get better each time.
You can also do a "Quick Fight". You can pick your opponent, but the results do not count on your record.
Boxers have limited stamina, with is improved by training at the gym. Stamina is indicated by a yellow bar, and when depleted, the boxer will have reduced power.
A red band indictes "life". When depleted, it will be a knock-down. Depending on the boxer's strength, will depend how fast, or if, he will recover from the knock-down.
At the end of each round, punch stats are displayed.
At the end of each bout, scores are displayed.
Within the Options section, you can chose how many rounds in each bout, and the length of each.
There is also a 'blood' option, which defaults to being disabled. Turning on will display blood on your boxers, and around the ring.
Here are some screenshots, to give you an idea of the gameplay.
In this game, I managed three knockdowns.
Yeah, sure. I wish I could do that in real life!
There are a lot of shots, since I wanted to give you a good idea of how the game looks:
See the entire gameplay here:
'REAL BOXING' GAMEPLAY (One game/opponent, No audio) (From screenshots, above)
'REAL BOXING' GAMEPLAY (Two games/opponents, full audio and commentary)
"Real Boxing" available from Steam.... $5.49 CAD / $4.99 USD
Requires Window XP or higher, with 512 MB graphics RAM, and 3 GB system RAM with at least a dual-core processor.
(More) Big Time Fails
More funny and odd, and somewhat disturbing photos from the internet:
What's on Wednesday? |
My bag certainly wouldn't fit. |
Disturbing. |
I'd better not comment on this. |
You might want to get that looked at. |
You've been told. |
What??? |
According to Pizza Pizza, this is a square. |
No, thanks. |
Wow! Don't you just love Walmart's "sales"? |
Stupid sprouts. |
This is just disturbing. |
From "After Midnight With 'The Brick" Archives
My radio program is currently on hiatus, but I would like to share with you some of the files from the archives.
Starting with this one.
One of the regular features was the "Top Whatever List". This was very popular. It consisted of a 'David Letterman' style list, but the number of items varied from four to twelve, depending on the content. Thus, the name "Top Whatever List".
Here is one from last December.
Enjoy.
